Let us explain…

The language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test is a series of questions to test your level of understanding and knowledge in five core areas:

  1. Learning,
  2. Reading,
  3. Writing,
  4. Oral communication and
  5. Numeracy

The test is simply designed to make sure your current level of understanding and knowledge (in the above five areas) are matched to the level of qualification you’re applying for.

For example, if you’re applying for a Certificate III level qualification, you’re going to need to prove that you can perform the following basic skills:

  • Listen in order to make notes from oral presentations
  • Able to use and calculate information from maps, plans, distance, speeds, times, time zones, convert metric to other non-metric systems
  • Write for a range of purposes, display logical organised structure, use quotations, able to link paragraphs, as well as plan, draft, review & proofread your own writing
  • Integrate prior knowledge with new information to predict, challenge or extend understanding

On the other hand, if you’re applying for a Certificate IV level qualification, these key outputs are going to be different and slightly more advanced.

If you’re feeling nervous about sitting your LLN test, give us a call on 1300 133 717 and we can talk you through it.

Remember, the test is simply to get an understanding that the course you’re applying for is the right fit for you.

We don’t want to enrol you into a course that you’re going to struggle with and ultimately not enjoy studying.
