One of TAFE Gippsland’s major campus upgrade projects is in the spotlight today with a visit to Warragul campus by MLC for Eastern Victoria, Ms Harriet Shing.

Ms Shing was representing the Minister for Training and Skills, and was welcomed to Warragul campus to view the upgrades made possible by Victorian Government’s TAFE Asset Maintenance Fund.

The Queens Street campus is undergoing a major rebuild at its eastern end with a number of additional learning spaces and new accommodation areas currently under construction.

TAFE Gippsland’s chief executive, Mr Grant Radford, said the campus learning facilities and accommodation will be significantly improved as a result of the $6.25 million project.

“We are very excited to see this refurbishment of our Warragul campus take place and it will be terrific to see all these training spaces open for business in early 2022,” Mr Radford said.

“The centrally-located Warragul campus will ensure our students and staff in Baw Baw Shire have access to quality learning spaces and enhanced accommodation and facilities.

“Our campus will be fit for purpose, offer an improved learning experience for students in an important outer peri-urban corridor for West Gippsland and be focused on the training that matches a range of local industry disciplines and needs,” Mr Radford concluded.

The $6.25 million development project began in early 2020 with the appointment of Becon Constructions to remodel the Queen Street campus for the benefit of TAFE Gippsland staff and students.

The Warragul campus upgrade project is scheduled to be completed in late 2021.
