Federation Training Board Chair, Mr Des Powell AM, has today announced the appointment of Mr Grant Radford to the position of Chief Executive Officer at Federation Training.

Making the announcement on behalf of the Board, Mr Powell said the appointment of Mr Radford was a major step forward for Federation Training.

“Grant Radford brings outstanding credentials to Federation Training and on behalf of the Board and all staff, we are delighted to welcome Grant on board in this important leadership position,” Mr Powell said.

“Grant also brings significant corporate and government experience in leadership roles within the further education sector and we look forward to him leading Federation Training well into the future.”

Mr Radford’s confirmation as Chief Executive Officer allows a seamless transition into the role after acting as the Institute’s Interim Chief Executive Officer over recent months.  Mr Radford’s appointment follows the departure of former Managing Director, Mr Jonathan Davis, in February this year.

Mr Powell said Mr Radford’s appointment comes at an important time for the Institute.

“Grant’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer will provide strong and professional leadership to Federation Training as we embark on an exciting period of campus redevelopments and revitalising the community’s trust in Gippsland’s local TAFE as the provider of quality vocational quality in our region,” Mr Powell said.

“Our Institute is very fortunate to have a new leadership team and many new talented staff in place to meet the challenges of the years ahead, and we are very confident Grant will lead Federation Training with strong accountability and purpose.”

Mr Radford began his official appointment as Chief Executive Officer on Monday 6 August 2018.


Grant Radford, 47, comes to the role of Chief Executive Officer with Federation Training having held senior executive management roles in the Commonwealth and Victorian government and the TAFE sector.

Grant, who has been on secondment from his role as Chief Operating Officer at Chisholm Institute, has spent 22 years in the public sector including the Department of Defence, Department of Education, Department of Treasury and Finance and Chisholm Institute.

Grant holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Deakin University), is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is married with two young children, lives in Officer, and he has a number of keen interests outside of the education sector.  Grant enjoys actively supporting his children’s sporting endeavours and is the current coach of his son’s  under 12 footy team. An Essendon Football club member , Grant also enjoys camping and socialising with friends and extended family.

Grant will bring a strong sense of financial accountability, a rigorous attention to detail and a passion for lifting the quality of the service Federation Training delivers into the VET sector across Gippsland.

Grant has acted as Interim CEO at Federation Training since March 2018 and his official appointment date is Monday 6 August 2018.
