Cake topped with cream and berries

Certificate I in Work Education students at TAFE Gippsland’s Traralgon Campus are working hard in preparation for their Red Cross fundraiser - the Bigcakebake - at Traralgon Campus on Friday 18 October.

This community activity is part of students’ course work for their study units, Participate in Vocational Activities, Work Effectively with Others and Work with Numbers and Money, and they are being given exposure to voluntary community work during this school term.

TAFE Gippsland teachers Alvina Edwards and Seph Minglis have been working together on Thursdays and Fridays over past months to help students organise for the fundraising event.

“Our students all enrolled in a Safe Food Handling course in preparation for the Bigcakebake day, and they are very excited to bake and to help raise money for the Red Cross,” Seph Minglis said.

“They have also been very keen to invite their families and friends and they are planning to ensure there are plenty of chairs so they can look after their elderly grandparents when they come along on the day.”

The students have called their team, the Great TAFE Bake Off and their fundraising efforts can be supported at: https://www.bigcakebake.org.au/fundraisers/sephminglis.

The Great TAFE Bake Off team will be in action from 11.30am on Friday 18 October, at Traralgon campus.
