A TAFE Gippsland Tourism student has been successful in gaining a position on a prestigious 12-month mentoring program.

Letitia Hessels, who is studying Certificate III in Tourism at Morwell campus was nominated by Tourism Trainer, Adele Mangano, for the coveted Ken Hore Mentoring Program, which is auspiced by Destination Gippsland.

“Letitia was selected by me and was interviewed by a panel from Destination Gippsland, and I’m very happy to say that Letitia was successful and is now preparing to undertake the 12 month program,” Adele said.

“I believe Letitia has all the qualities required for a long and successful career in the Tourism industry.”

Letitia was selected along with two other entrants - one from Phillip Island who works in Marketing for Phillip Island Nature Parks and anther entrant who works in her own art gallery.

Adele said the program honours the contribution made by the late Ken Hore to the Gippsland tourism industry.

“It provides an annual career development opportunity to young tourism professionals or new entrants in the Gippsland and Phillip Island tourism Industry,” she said.

“The program sets out to promote skills and excellence among young people and new entrants into the tourism industry as well as extending tourism networks and providing a broader understanding of the industry.”

The Ken Hore Mentoring Program has provided mentorship opportunities for thirty-two participants over the past six years.
