Skills or Knowledge gained

Students undertaking the CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying will develop essential skills and knowledge to excel in the construction industry. This includes planning and setting out projects, interpreting construction plans, and accurately measuring and calculating tasks. Learners will gain hands-on experience in using industry-specific tools, materials, and equipment, as well as constructing walls, arches, and other brick and block structures with precision. Workplace safety is a key focus, ensuring graduates are equipped to follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards and implement safe practices on-site. Additionally, students will enhance their problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills, preparing them to tackle on-site challenges and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Entry Requirements

Are there specified requirements for entry into the course/qualification?: No

Mandatory entry requirements:

Students must be employed as an Apprentice in CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying to undertake this qualification.
Must be 15 years of age or older for a School Based Apprenticeship.
If students are no longer at secondary school and are under 17 years of age they must have a "school leaving certificate" from the Department of Education before they can enrol in this qualification.

Recommended entry Requirements:

To enrol in the CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, it is recommended that students:
Have a signed apprenticeship agreement with an employer in the bricklaying or construction industry.
Possess basic numeracy and literacy skills to effectively interpret plans and complete calculations.
Demonstrate a willingness to work in an outdoor, physical environment and handle manual labour tasks.
Have a strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry, particularly in bricklaying and blocklaying.
While these are not mandatory requirements, they will support learners in successfully completing the course and achieving the desired outcomes.

Limitations to course Entry:

For each Learner enrolling in a vocational qualification, regardless of eligible or ineligible status under the Victorian Training Guarantee, TAFE Gippsland will conduct a Pre-Training Review of current competencies (including literacy and numeracy skills) prior to commencement in training.
