Course Overview

Do you have a passion for photography? Do you want to take your skills to the next level?  Then a Certificate III in Visual Arts is the perfect course to hone your skills and learn new ways to visually communicate.

This course will give you skills in photography and digital imaging, as well as teaching you design principles in capturing images and how to edit them like a pro.

Taught on campus over a 10-month period, this hands-on course will see you working in a structured environment both alone and in teams. Classes are taught two days a week, giving you have plenty of time to put your new skills into practice, giving you confidence and enhancing your employment opportunities.

The possibilities that come with a Certificate III in Visual Arts are endless. At the end of this course, you’ll be able to work in areas such as:

  • Digital imaging assistant
  • Digital marketing assistant
  • Digital photographer
  • Online digital content creator
  • Online content coordinator
  • Content marketer
  • Content marketing manager assistant
  • Content curator assistant
  • Channel manager assistant
  • Content strategist
  • Designer
  • Social media content assistant
  • Event videographer/photographer

You’ll also be able to take your photography career even further by studying a Certificate IV in Visual Art or Diploma of Visual Art or Bachelor of Visual Art (not offered at TAFE Gippsland). You may also be able to apply for other courses both in higher education, private college education and VET sectors, and TAFE Gippsland will be here to help with all of those decisions if the time comes.

Monday and Tuesday 9.30am–12.00pm, 1.00pm– 4.00pm
This course doesn't run during school holidays, public holidays; Institute planning or staff conference days.

Qualifications and Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate III in Visual Arts (Photography).

Opportunities for Further Study

Progress to higher level qualification; students may undertake and/or apply for Certificate IV in Visual Art or Diploma of Visual Art or Bachelor of Visual Art.  This may extend broadly into other courses both in higher education, private college education and VET sectors. Students should check course entry requirements for relevant courses. Completion of Certificate III in Visual Arts CUA31115 does not guarantee students a place in any subsequent course.
