Course Description

TAFE Gippsland is offering Victorian Government subsidised, accredited training courses to help people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic re-skill and find work in the construction industry.
Upskill yourself with this quick and effective course in scaffolding. Build upon your existing, basic skills as a scaffolder and improve your career prospects. A scaffolding license is mandatory when working as a scaffolder on any job site in Victoria, so set yourself up for success with this interesting and highly sought-after qualification.

The purpose of this intermediate scaffolding course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to erect, alter and dismantle tube and coupler scaffolding, build cantilevered and spurred scaffolds, sloping platforms including barrow ramps, install cantilevered crane loading platforms, install edge protection and covered access ways. Working as part of a team is an important requirement for all participants in this course.

A licence to perform High Risk Work is issued by WorkSafe Victoria. On successful completion of this course, you can apply to WorkSafe Victoria for a license to perform high risk work. Career Opportunities

Intermediate Scaffolding is the second step towards a career as a Scaffolder. Intermediate Scaffolding builds on the concepts established in basic scaffolding with additional training to install a Cantilevered Crane Loading Platform and inspection of a Mast Climber.

Entry Requirements

Mandatory entry requirements:

This unit has a pre-requisite requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level or holding a valid licence for basic scaffolding.
Students will be required to apply for enrolment. A starter pack will be forwarded to the student, this will include a Pre-Training Review (PTR) requiring completion, the PTR will be reviewed by a trainer. An invitation to complete an online Enrolment Form will be forwarded to the student to complete the enrolment process. Enrolments will need to be complete five days prior to delivery.

Recommended entry requirements:

Applicants will be required to undertake pre-course reading and an activity book to ensure an understanding of the learning content that will be reviewed in the class contact time. These materials will be supplied to the students upon enrolment.
Students must provide valid identification documents to the WorkSafe Victoria standards, such as a current Victorian drivers licence.
Have literacy and numeracy skills at sufficient level to be able to undertake training and assessment in English.
