Learn the basic skills of engineering with a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways. An entry-level engineering course will take you closer to employment and increase your chances of securing an apprenticeship.

You’ll learn basic workshop skills without needing to complete an entire apprenticeship, like how to operate tools and equipment, basic welding skills as well as improving your communication skills.

Taught over an 4-month period, you’ll work closely with our expert teachers who will guide and support you through your learning. And what’s even better is this course is hands-on, so you’ll be practicing your new skills as soon as you learn them, increasing your confidence when it comes to the workforce.

When you complete this course, there are a number of employment opportunities open to you. You could work in engineering jobs like sheet metal fabrication, Boilermaking, fitting and turning, electrical fitting, and so much more.

You might even choose to take your studies further by completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade, a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade, or a Certificate IV in Engineering - Fabrication (Perform Welding Supervision).

Career opportunities

The main job roles are Fitter/Machinist, Welder/Fabricator, Sheet Metal Worker, trades assistant and other engineering related jobs. The aim of this course is to provide pre-employment training and a pathway into the engineering, manufacturing or related industries. Specifically a graduate of this course will be eligible to undertake a work-based traineeship or apprenticeship in  a range of engineering, manufacturing or related areas. Most of our major employers prefer this course as a prerequisite to an apprenticeship.

Opportunities for further study

Certificate III Engineering MEM30219, and MEM30319. Further training pathways from this qualification include MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering and MEM50119 Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade or other relevant qualifications

Qualifications and Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate II in Engineering Pathways.

  • Recommended working at level 2 with writing and reading and also maths skills. Student aids can be appointed to a student with lower levels of reading , writing and maths if need.
