Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre Apprenticeship (Carpentry) - VDSS

This course provides learners with the basic skills required to work in the construction industry. The units include health and safety, safe use of hand and power tools, as well as practical tasks including the construction of a saw horse and step ladder, building up to more skilled tasks including the construction of a cubby house.

Communication skills and teamwork will build organisational skills and self management in preparation for completion of a pre apprenticeship course providing a head start in gaining an apprenticeship in carpentry.

Clothing and Equipment

  • Steel cap boots
  • Overalls or drill pants
  • One metre folding rule or five metre retractable tape
  • Carpenter’s pencil
  • Branded shirt, safety glasses and ear protection supplied
  • Students must have access to a computer and Internet and we encourage bringing their school laptop to VET DSS classes
