About this course
Taught over a 36-week period , three days a week at our Traralgon Campus, this course will allow you to put your new skills into practice both in and out of the classroom, increasing your confidence and boosting your employment opportunities.
If you feel like make-up is artistry for the face, you’re not alone – so do we! And we have the perfect course to unleash your creativity and fine tune your skills; the Certificate III in Make-Up course.
Led by our specialist make-up educator, Alarna Bell, this course takes you step-by-step through designing and applying everyday makeup looks, as well as specialised techniques including bridal, photography, creative makeup, airbrushing effects and camouflage make-up applications.
You’ll also learn basic hairstyling and eyelash extensions. We have also added social media and marketing skills to this course to create the complete package!
Upon successful completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to work as a qualified make-up artist. You could choose to seek work within a hairdressing or beauty salon, or choose to work for yourself as a freelance make-up and hair artist for weddings, special occasions, editorial work and TV or film; the possibilities are endless!
You will be gaining hands-on, real world experience in the industry of your dreams, with the opportunity to be earning money and taking the time to think about your next career move – because we know those decisions aren’t always easy.
One of those career moves could be studying a Diploma of Beauty Therapy. This course is designed to give you even more skills in the beauty industry so you can take your career and employment opportunities even further.

Skills or Knowledge gained
Students obtain skills in all aspects of make-up application - including day make-up, evening looks, camouflage, airbrushing, fashion, bridal and creative.
Due to industry demand this course now includes basic hairstyling units. Students will learn how to blow-wave, style and create braided hair looks for their clients to complement their make-up design. Also added to this course for our students to learn an array of skills is eyelash extensions.
Students will also learn how to promote a personal services business and use social media tools to grow their make-up business along with core service skills related to working within a beauty salon. These core skills include reception duties, salon communication and work place health and safety.

Mandatory entry requirements:
16 years of age.
Applicants are required to have an appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy skills, which will be evaluated prior to course intake. Pre Training Review and interview will be required prior to enrolment.
Recommended entry Requirements:
Learners with excellent people skills and a genuine interest in the Make-up and Beauty Industry.
