About this course
Do you dream of working in a day spa or beauty clinic providing relaxing and indulgent beauty treatments for your clients? Well, do we have the course for you!
Taught over 18-month period three days a week, you’ll be guided by our expert beauty therapist teaching staff at our Traralgon campus, who will support you every step of the way in your learning journey.
By successfully completing a Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy you will gain the skills and experience to be able to work within this exciting industry as a beauty therapist.
You’ll learn how to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including facial and specialised facial treatments, body massage, tanning, waxing services, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services.
This course will also teach you how to consult with clients in local spas or salons, provide beauty advice and recommend treatments and sell retail skincare and cosmetic products. You could even open your own business!
Take your career even further by studying a Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
Also available in a traineeship pathway which requires you to be employed as a trainee beauty therapist in an operational business, this course will enhance your employment opportunities and help create even more career possibilities.

Skills or Knowledge gained
You'll gain skills to provide clients with a range of beauty services including:
- Body massage
- Full-body waxing services and lash and brow tinting/lash lifting
- Manicures and pedicures including electric filing
- Makeup application
- Spray tanning
- Facial treatments including specialised and microdermabrasion
- Anatomy and physiology of the skin and body.
You will also gain knowledge of the beauty industry and products along with customer service, retail skills and reception skills.
Entry Requirements
Are there specified requirements for entry into the course/qualification?: No
Mandatory entry requirements:
16 years of age.
Applicants are required to have an appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy skills, which will be evaluated prior to course intake. Pre Training Review and an interview will be required prior to enrolment.
Recommended entry Requirements:
Learners with excellent people and communication skills and a genuine interest in the Beauty Industry.
Limitations to course Entry:
The Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy wouldn't be suited to a learner with low language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Students are required to complete at least 38 hours in a Commercial Salon Environment for unit SHBBHRS010 Provide waxing services completing a minimum of 12 Waxing Services and for units SHBBBOS008 Provide body massages and SHBBFAS005 Provide facial treatments and skin care recommendations completing all assessments.
