Course Overview

TAFE Gippsland is a Registered NDIS provider.

To step into the workforce, we all need a bit of support and assistance. The Certificate I in Work Education will improve your language and literacy skills, allowing you to develop your confidence and get ready to find meaningful work. This course will address your individual needs and help you overcome hurdles in your employment or education.

This qualification has been designed to assist you if you have a learning, cognitive or developmental disability that impacts your ability to learn new skills or seek employment. You will gain basic employability skills in exciting ways, including work placements, excursions, and new experiences as you try out different industries and see what works for you.

This course is certified under the Human Service Standards and ISO9001 compliance standards.


Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.00am-3.00pm

Qualifications and Recognition

Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate I in Work Education.

Career Opportunities

Learners will investigate a range of industries, volunteer organisations and employment support services as part of their individual units and Individual Learning Plans to establish appropriate employment options/pathways

  • Post compulsory school aged learners with evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment / intellectual disability

Recommended entry requirements

  • In exceptional circumstances compulsory school aged learners with a diagnosed disability may be enrolled if TAFE Gippsland can establish the learners Secondary School is unable to meet the needs of the learner and the learner has a level of behavioural maturity that would allow them to develop the communication and interpersonal skills to interact with other learners
