Jump into an exciting career in the painting and decorating industry with this pre-apprenticeship. You’ll learn the basic skills required for entry-level employment in this creative field. A typical week in this qualification will involve a number of interesting activities such as using power tools, preparing surfaces, spray painting and paper hanging.
To prepare them for entering the workforce, this qualification teaches students skills in communication, teamwork, planning and organisation. You’ll gain the confidence and self-management needed to work independently in any environment. Plus, this qualification works as a stepping stone to gaining an apprenticeship and trade accreditation.

Times4 days per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8.00am to 4.30pm.
Qualifications and RecognitionUpon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate II in Building and Construction (Painting and Decorating) (Pre-apprenticeship).
Typical learners who undertake the Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship include:
- school leavers aiming to enter the painting and decorating trades within the construction industry
- secondary student completing a Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Victorian Education and Training (VET) VCE VET program which contributes to the VCE or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) commonly undertaken in years 10, 11 or 12
- early school leavers working in labouring roles looking for an apprenticeship or opportunity to up skill
- career changers wanting to experience a trade within the painting industry.
