Course Overview
Do you love using your creative skills to work magic on people’s hair, making them feel good in the process? Then give your hairdressing career a kickstart with the Certificate II in Salon Assistant!
You’ll learn the basic knowledge and skills needed to work in a hairdressing salon including hair styling, the basic roles of hairdressing and high-quality customer care, all by gaining genuine hands-on experience working with real clients in our simulated training salons.
You will also learn how to interact with customers professionally and gain a broad overview of the hair and beauty industry with a strong focus on communicating in the workplace and providing assistance to senior colleagues.
Taught in two day 9am-4pm blocks, you’ll be able to spend less time in the classroom and more time putting your skills into practice. You’ll gain confidence and experience in a salon, while increasing your career opportunities for the future.
When you complete your studies, you’ll have the skills you need to work as a Salon Assistant and provide the following services: assisting Senior hairdressers with applying hair colour product, performing basic blow waves, shampooing, setting up work spaces, carrying out reception duties and scheduling, communicating and interacting with staff and clients to ensure a positive and safe salon environment.
You might also be able to earn money and gain experience while you decide where to take your career next. This could mean studying a Certificate III in Hairdressing, a Certificate III in Beauty Services or a Certificate III in Makeup – there really is no limit to where the course can take you.
So, if you’re ready to get started in the hair and beauty industry, come and study with us and be taught by some of the best professionals in the industry.
ATTENTION: As much as we’d love to offer more, we can only offer one Free TAFE course per person. If you’ve already enrolled and commenced, or enrolled but didn’t complete a Free TAFE course at any Victorian TAFE in the past you will NOT be eligible for another and will need to pay tuition and materials fees when you enrol. Reach out to us if you think this is you. |
