About this course
There are two ways to undertake training in Certificate III Hairdressing. You can gain an apprenticeship within a hairdressing salon and attend TAFE as part of your employment or attend TAFE as a non apprentice student. For the non-apprentice pathway it is recommended you complete SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant before commencing SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing unless you have completed a previous Certificate III level course or have previous Industry experience.
Night Class training option is available for Non-Apprentice students. This class is held at our Traralgon campus 3 nights per week, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings. Class times are 5pm to 9pm.

Our Certificate III in Hairdressing will give you cutting, colouring and finishing techniques for male and female clients, skills for communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services and designing and applying a broad range of technical hairdressing services.
And because we value your learning, you will develop your skills through the highly regarded training resources of Pivot Point Academy. You’ll also have additional flexibility of our Pivot Point resources online, giving you the opportunity to access resources 24/7 either on campus, in the salon or at home.

Opportunities for Further Study
SHB40216 Certificate IV in Hairdressing, SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management or graduates may choose to enhance their skillset and complete SHB30316 Certificate III in Barbering. (Not offered at TAFE Gippsland)
Skills or Knowledge gained

Mandatory entry requirements:
Applicants are required to have an appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy skills, which will be evaluated prior to course intake. Pre Training Review and Interview will be required prior to enrolment.
Recommended entry Requirements:
Students are recommended to complete SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant before commencing SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing as a Non Apprentice unless completed a previous Certificate III level course or have previous industry experience.
