“Hi, my name is Louise Welsh and I grew up in Morwell, Latrobe Valley. I am currently a student at TAFE Gippsland in Morwell, studying a Certificate III in Hospitality. I have always had a passion for cooking, since I was a young girl. I could fry an egg at eight years old, as a teenager, I began to learn how to home cook and as an adult I found an interest in learning how to cook different cultural foods. After seeing social media photos of my cooking, staff from the Koorie Unit in Morwell reached out to me early 2020 and encouraged to study Hospitality at TAFE. I have almost finished my first year of Hospitality and I recently landed a job working alongside a pastry chef at La Porchetta in Traralgon. I am grateful for the opportunity to work in a field that I am passionate about. Thank you to the Koorie staff and the teachers at TAFE Gippsland for supporting me and helping me learn more.” Louise Welsh |
