About this course

Learn to repair and service heavy commercial vehicles with the Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
If you’re already employed in the heavy commercial vehicle industry, this apprenticeship course is for you.

Offered as a four-year apprenticeship for those working in the outdoor power equipment industry, a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology will give you the skills and knowledge required to perform a broad range of service and repair tasks within the heavy commercial vehicle industry.
You’ll learn how to service and repair faults on heavy commercial vehicle engines, transmissions, suspensions, steering, brakes and electrical systems and components.

Career Opportunities

Employment in automotive heavy commercial vehicle workshops, fleet workshops and or dealerships as a qualified heavy commercial vehicle technician.

Opportunities for Further Study

Certificate IV or Diploma in the automotive industry

Skills or Knowledge gained

This qualification is made up of 36 units of competency which covers the skill and knowledge required to perform a broad range of service and repair tasks within the heavy commercial vehicle industry.

Mandatory entry requirements:

Must be a registered and employed apprentice with a sufficient completion of a language literacy and numeracy assessment.

Recommended entry Requirements:

Completion of year ten secondary studies, 16 years of age.
