Course Overview
Now is the time to step into a career in the painting and decorating industry through a rewarding and hands-on apprenticeship.
In the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (Apprenticeship), you’ll learn to apply paint by brush and roller, apply texture coat finishes, match colours, apply decorative finishes, treat led paint hazards and so much more.
Getting hands-on training from industry professionals, you’ll master your skills in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work as you work and learn at the same time.
Taught both on campus and in the workplace over a three to four year period, we have designed this course so you can put your skills into action right away, making it the perfect option for those who want to get started immediately.
You’ll study a mixture of practical and theoretical classes in this creative industry, attending 10 x four day blocks per year (Year 1, Year 2, Year 3) for the duration of your apprenticeship.
And once you finish your apprenticeship, the career opportunities are endless. Working as a Painter and Decorator, an Industrial Painter, Supervisor, Visual Merchandiser or in Retail, you’ll be able to practice what you’ve learned, gaining real-world industry experience and taking the time to decide where you’d like your career to go next.
This could mean studying a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), which will further add to your skillset and increase employment opportunities in the future.
So, if you’re looking for a varied career where you can be as creative as you like, then a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (Apprenticeship) is the perfect course to get you there and TAFE is the perfect place to make it happen.
Please note, applicants must be currently employed as an apprentice in the Painting and Decorating industry and have a valid contract of training in place.
