Course Overview

A Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services is a flexible qualification that will work to take you where you want to go, by expanding your skillset and choosing which area of plumbing you’d like to focus on.

So, if you’re a registered plumber and you want to further your qualifications, there are many options available to ensure you reach your goals without sacrificing your work schedule – because we know how limited your time can be.

When you complete this course, there are a number of pathways that could open up. These include plumbing contractor, fire services supervisor, air conditioning technician, specialist hydraulic designer and so many more.

Taught just one day per week over a two-year period, we’ve designed this course in a number of flexible options – so you really can fit it in around your everyday life and commitments. And when you’re finished, you’ll be eligible to register with the Victorian Building Authority.

The flexible options are:

1. Certificate IV in Plumbing
Suitable if you’re a registered plumber who wants to obtain the Certificate IV in Plumbing: This qualification fulfils the requirements issued by the Victorian Building Authority for licensing in different areas of plumbing. A registered plumber is usually eligible to receive government funding to complete the desired units of competency for each licensing area.

2. Victorian building authority licensing requirements (government funded)
Suitable if you’re a registered plumber that wants to become licensed in different areas of plumbing described by the Victorian Building Authority. You will select units depending on what area you need/want to be licensed in. A registered plumber is usually eligible to receive government funding to complete the desired units of competency for each licensing area.

Units of competency are delivered per unit in a class environment.

3. Short course Victorian Building Authority licensing requirements (NOT government funded)
Suitable if you’re a registered plumber that wants to become licensed in different areas of plumbing described by the Victorian Building Authority. You will select units depending on what area they need/want to be licensed in. A registered plumber would NOT receive government funding to complete the desired units of competency for each licensing area, they would need to pay fee for service to complete these short course options.

Units of competency are delivered per unit in a class environment.

ATTENTION: As much as we’d love to offer more, we can only offer one Free TAFE course per person. If you’ve already enrolled and commenced, or enrolled but didn’t complete a Free TAFE course at any Victorian TAFE in the past you will NOT be eligible for another and will need to pay tuition and materials fees when you enrol. Reach out to us if you think this is you.
