Learning Skills
Whether you’re studying on campus or online, having strong study skills can make a big difference to how confident and successful you feel in your course. Our team of Learning Skills Advisors is here to help you build those skills and feel more in control of your study.
Offering one-on-one coaching sessions out of class time, the Learning Skills team will work with you and your educator to help you achieve success in your studies.
We offer practical support across all areas of study including:
- Helping to understand what your assessments are asking
- Breaking down complex questions
- How to plan, structure and write assignments
- Getting started on a task and working through it step-by-step
We also support you to improve your reading and writing for study, for example:
- Understanding textbooks
- Taking useful notes
- Summarising information
- Using your own words
- Paragraph structure and referencing
- Using tools like Word or PowerPoint.
Beyond assessments, we can help you develop study habits that work for you, including:
- Creating a study plan
- Managing your time around work and life
- Preparing for role plays and tests
- Finding ways to stay motivated and organised.
You don’t need to be struggling to use this service, many students come to build confidence, clarify their thinking, or get ahead. Our team works with students from all course levels, offering practical, down-to-earth support to help you become a more independent learner.
