Course Overview
The Gippsland region has around 3,400 farms covering almost one million hectares. Collectively, Gippsland farms produce over $2.03 billion in agricultural output each year - making TAFE Gippsland graduates in demand to agricultural service providers.
The Diploma of Agriculture is for you if you’re already employed in the agriculture field but want to gain additional skills. You’ll build on vital agricultural business skills in human resources, agronomy, animal husbandry and whole farm planning.

The course is designed so you can study fully online and after hours, while still being able to work during the day.
You have control over how and when you study – by either choosing to study one subject at a time or study the whole course over a year.
If online study feels uncertain to you, we can reassure you by offering the option of supported study sessions where you’ll have access to expert teachers, making sure you feel less alone and well supported.
Additionally, we’ll make sure you have an opportunity to build your professional networks, not only by meeting other students across Gippsland and Victoria, but also by meeting industry specialist guest speakers that support the delivery of the course.

Mandetory entry requirements
- Students need to have access to an agricultural enterprise to support their assessment completion.
Recommended entry requirements
- Students are strongly recommended to have completed AHC40116 Certificate IV in Agriculture and / or have past equivalent experience on farms or in a related businesses. It is highly desirable that students are actively working on farm or in a related industry during their studies to enable them to take advantage of the full learning opportunities. Students undertaking this course should allow a minimum of 10 hours per week of self paced study over the 35 weeks of the course and above scheduled course time to be successful
Limitations to entry
- Students must have access to a reliable internet connection that will support video conferencing.
- Students must have access to a computer or tablet that will support course work to be completed in our learning Management System Moodle.This also needs to include a headset (integrated microphone and earphones).
