If you’re looking to follow a career in the fitting or fabrication industry, our Certificate II in Engineering Studies will give you the hands-on skills you need.
Combining practical experience with theory within a live TAFE workshop environment, students will gain the skills required to undertake a work-based traineeship or apprenticeship in a range of engineering, manufacturing or related roles.
Entry Requirements
Key skills required for success
- Students should demonstrate sound Reading, Writing and Numeracy skills, ideally at a Year 9 level or above, to support successful completion of written and practical assessment tasks.
- Students are required to work safely in an engineering workshop environment, including standing for extended periods, manual handling of materials and tools, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Students must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, participate in workshop activities, and work both independently and within a team environment.
- Students should have an interest in engineering, fabrication, machining and problem solving activities.

- Practical workshop activities and demonstrations
- Engineering drawing and measurement activities
- Fabrication and machining tasks using workshop tools and equipment
