Course Overview

ATTENTION: As much as we’d love to offer more, we can only offer one Free TAFE course per person. If you’ve already enrolled and commenced, or enrolled but didn’t complete a Free TAFE course at any Victorian TAFE in the past you will NOT be eligible for another and will need to pay tuition and materials fees when you enrol. Reach out to us if you think this is you.

If you’re looking to specialise your hospitality skills, meet new people, and learn amazing things about what we eat and drink, a Certificate III in Hospitality is right for you.

This course will teach you how to effectively work in a restaurant’s front-of-house, developing a well-rounded knowledge of house food and beverage service, products and sales skills.

Using your discretion and judgement, you’ll work under supervision while you grow your independence using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

However, we do recommend that you and your employer allow 1 day per week to work on the online resources and assessment tasks.

Once you complete the Certificate III in Hospitality, you’ll have all the skills you need to work in various front of house roles in restaurants and cafes – the possibilities really are endless.

You might find yourself working as a Senior Bar Attendant, Sommilier or Waiter.

You can even choose to take your career further by studying a Certificate IV in Hospitality, or a Diploma of Hospitality Management (not offered at TAFE Gippsland), and we’ll be here to help you with all of the decision-making when you’re ready.

Go on, set yourself up for a fun, exciting and dynamic career with a Certificate III in Hospitality at TAFE Gippsland.

Please note, students must be employed in the industry during this course due to complete an apprenticeship.
