If you’re looking to specialise your hospitality skills, meet new people, and learn amazing things about what we eat and drink, a Certificate III in Hospitality is right for you.
This course will teach you how to effectively work in a restaurant’s front-of-house, developing a well-rounded knowledge of house food and beverage service, products and sales skills.
Using your discretion and judgement, you’ll work under supervision while you grow your independence using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.
However, we do recommend that you and your employer allow 1 day per week to work on the online resources and assessment tasks.
Once you complete the Certificate III in Hospitality, you’ll have all the skills you need to work in various front of house roles in restaurants and cafes – the possibilities really are endless.
You might find yourself working as a Senior Bar Attendant, Sommilier or Waiter.
You can even choose to take your career further by studying a Certificate IV in Hospitality, or a Diploma of Hospitality Management (not offered at TAFE Gippsland), and we’ll be here to help you with all of the decision-making when you’re ready.

Please note, students must be employed in the industry during this course due to complete an apprenticeship.
TimesWeekly online zoom sessions from 9.00-12.00 noon Minimum of 4 workplace visits per year. Practical assessments to be completed in the workplace with the support of workplace supervisor.
Qualifications and RecognitionUpon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate III in Hospitality (Traineeship).
