For someone who enjoys multiple daily close contacts with staff in the execution of his duties, 2020 has been more than challenging than usual for Ben Roberts.
The ICT team member has been isolated for much of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic however he retains a desire to find quick solutions to the many urgent requests that come his way on a daily basis.
Ben is always finding ways to improve his workflow processes to make tasks more time efficient and he manages to solve the challenges before him very swiftly, in a professional and polite manner. Always willing to help his TAFE Gippsland colleagues, Ben is knowledgeable and a real problem solver who won’t stop until he finds a solution, even if it's outside of his scope.
Another significant achievement has been Ben’s willingness to mentor and be a role model for ICT Trainees. Ben ensured he made time to sit with them individually to assist with their course work, making sure they understood each component fully and explaining when they didn't. He was always available to answer their questions and empower them with knowledge to grow and exceed in their newly started careers.
Ben has seen many changes, mergers and rebrands during his time with the Institute and the corresponding challenges, particularly in the ever-evolving information technology space.
Highly valued by his many colleagues throughout Gippsland, Ben is a true and committed professional in the workplace and another worthy recipient of a Staff Member of the Year Award (non-teaching) in 2020.
