Building Skills for the Future of Gippsland
TAFE Gippsland is changing and upgrading our campuses to deliver high quality training facilities in Sale, Morwell and Warragul.
The projects will ensure students of all ages and people who wish to re-skill can be trained in modern, fit-for-purpose facilities that prepare them for career opportunities in traditional and emerging local industries.
Our plans are informed by feedback from our students and community, who tell us they want a better student experience, improved training facilities, quality teaching and industry-relevant skills training.
We will continue to engage with our staff, students, community, schools, industry and business to develop our plans and ensure we are meeting the current and future needs of our communities.

Our capital projects by campus
A redeveloped Morwell campus
A $35.5 million Victorian State Government-funded redevelopment of our Morwell campus will deliver a modern, high-quality training facility in the heart of the Latrobe Valley, is due for completion by the end of 2021. View the video fly-through animation here.
The redevelopment will be delivered in two stages and will sit alongside the emerging Innovation Centre on our Morwell campus. The Health and Early Childhood Training Centre (Stage 1) was completed in July 2020. and our new Morwell Trade Skills Centre (Stage 2), will provide further vocational pathways for our students.
The Yallourn campus in Newborough will continue to deliver high-quality vocational training for the Moe and Newborough region for the foreseeable future.
Some courses, including Electrotechnology, New Energy Technologies, Instrumentation, Plumbing and Early Childhood Education and Care, will move from Yallourn to Morwell, following completion of the Morwell Campus in late 2021. Traditional trade training, including Carpentry, Cabinet Making, Brick Laying, Painting & Decorating, Engineering and Automotive, will continue to be delivered from Yallourn, along with security and construction and Work Safety Centre accredited training.
Important administrative functions for TAFE Gippsland also will remain at the Yallourn campus.
TAFE Gippsland will work with the Victorian Government and our communities to identify further training and partnership opportunities to be delivered from Yallourn campus.
A new Port of Sale campus
In 2020 we will begin building our new $25 million, state-of-the-art campus in the Port of Sale. You can view the fly-over animation below.
TAFE Gippsland is funding the project following the sale of our former Chadstone campus to Holmesglen Institute of TAFE. Our new campus will deliver leading education and training facilities for a range of industry and academic disciplines, tailored to meet industry and community needs, and will improve training access for students in Wellington Shire.
Widespread community consultation has informed course development and helped guide the architects, GHD Woodhead, in designing a TAFE that will accommodate the vocational training required to match local employment needs.
The new Sale campus will be fully accessible and will see most of our existing TAFE course offerings at Fulham consolidated into a new single purpose-built facility at the Port of Sale. Some specialised training, such as Aviation, will remain at the Fulham campus to meet the needs of the aviation industry at West Sale Airport and to support major capital investment by Wellington Shire Council.
New courses also will be offered in Wellington, with Health to be added to Engineering, Carpentry, Automotive, Early Childhood, Hair and Beauty and Hospitality (VETiS).
To accommodate the new courses, TAFE Gippsland will retain the Gtec campus to provide a specialised learning experience to VCAL students. We also will retain and expand our FLC, in the centre of Sale, to meet the increasing demand for TAFE training in Wellington Shire.
An upgraded Warragul campus
A major upgrade to our Warragul campus will deliver a better student experience in fit-for-purpose facilities and will ensure TAFE Gippsland can meet growing student demand for vocational and educational training in the Warragul and Drouin peri-urban growth corridor.
The upgrades will deliver new general-purpose training spaces to accommodate a number of courses, along with refurbished staff accommodation.
The upgrade will help TAFE Gippsland to meet the vocational education and training needs of our students, staff and the community in the Warragul and Drouin region.
