TAFE Gippsland’s Morwell campus was abuzz this morning as it welcomed the Minister for Skills and TAFE, the Honourable Gayle Tierney MP, to officially announce the commencement of construction on the region’s new Clean Energy Centre.

During her visit, Minister Tierney announced $5 million in Victorian Government funding for the state-of-the-art facility, which will deliver world-class vocational training in clean and sustainable energy technologies. The announcement marks a significant investment in Gippsland’s clean energy future and local workforce development.
The Clean Energy Centre will support emerging industries by offering specialist training in:
- Expansion and maintenance of wind power systems (onshore and offshore)
- Hybrid and electric vehicle servicing and maintenance
- Smart grid technology for next-generation energy infrastructure
TAFE Gippsland CEO, Laura Macpherson, addressed guests at the announcement, stating the new facility will play a vital role in supporting both industry and workers as the region transitions from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
“This is an exciting initiative that will strengthen TAFE Gippsland’s position as a leader in clean energy education, sustainable practices, and the region’s shift towards a more sustainable future,” Ms Macpherson said.
