TAFE Gippsland campuses from Warragul to Lakes Entrance are starting to welcome vocational training students back for the 2021 year.

The return to face-to-face learning will be a welcome relief for many students and the study year will be marked by Welcome to Country ceremonies at select campus locations over the weeks ahead.

TAFE Gippsland chief executive officer, Mr Grant Radford, said the challenges faced by staff and students in 2020 have resulted in a more resilient and flexible Institute.

“We certainly do welcome our students back to campus for 2021 after a challenging but ultimately very successful year in 2020,” Mr Radford said.

“We are still working very closely with the Victorian state government on the important covidsafe conditions that were introduced during the pandemic, and the learnings from 2020 will ensure we keep our staff and students safe and utilise the learning technology that proved invaluable over the past 12 months.”

Mr Radford said with teaching staff and students returning after the holiday period, it was important to note that enrolment processes are still open for many TAFE courses in 2021.

“TAFE Gippsland is still in the midst of enrolments for various courses over the coming weeks and it is timely to encourage students of all ages to seek out the opportunities available to them,” he said.

Mr Radford also welcomed local MLC Ms Harriet Shing to TAFE Gippsland this week as the popular Free TAFE initiative continues into the 2021 year.

Ms Shing visited the Traralgon campus on Wednesday 27 January, to promote the Victorian Government’s Free TAFE courses in 2021 and to send a message to the Gippsland community on the value of TAFE’s vocational training options.

“The message from TAFE Gippsland and the Victorian Government is encouraging school leavers or anyone contemplating a career change, to look at the opportunities TAFE offers to gain new skills in courses designed to meet local needs,” Mr Radford said.

“With exciting new campus infrastructure projects at Warragul, Morwell and Sale now well underway, TAFE Gippsland is offering a range of career training opportunities across Gippsland in modern fit-for-purpose buildings that will provide an amazing staff and student experience.”
