TAFE Gippsland is pleased to announce a new formal partnership with Marinus Link, which has a key role in the clean energy transition for Gippsland.
Both organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together in the best interests of local industry to provide high quality training opportunities for the clean energy sector.
TAFE Gippsland CEO Laura Macpherson said industry insights and expertise provided by Marinus Link would be instrumental in TAFE Gippsland’s work in designing course content for training in the clean energy sector of the future.
“The Marinus Link project is an important project for Gippsland's clean energy future, and TAFE Gippsland is proud to be a key partner in its success,” she said.
“We've formalised a new partnership with Marinus Link by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure the project has the skilled workforce it needs.
“This collaboration will create high-quality training opportunities right here in Gippsland, giving local people the chance to build rewarding careers in the clean energy sector and play a direct role in our region's energy transition.
“By working together, we're not just delivering a major infrastructure project; we're investing in our community and empowering the next generation of energy professionals.”
Marinus Link CEO Stephanie McGregor said partnering with TAFE Gippsland would ensure the development of a skilled workforce needed to build and maintain the undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector from Tasmania to the Latrobe Valley.
“Marinus Link will deliver benefits long after construction is complete,” she said.
“Partnering with TAFE Gippsland means we can help grow a skilled local workforce that will support jobs, industry, and communities well into the renewable energy future.
“With Marinus Link in place, Tasmania and Victoria will share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states.
“The project doesn’t just enable more electricity to flow – it also promotes investment in new clean energy projects and industry, in both Tasmania and Victoria.”
