The new trilateral partnership between Australia, India and Canada is good news for Gippsland’s clean energy transition, according to TAFE Gippsland.

This new agreement, announced at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, focuses on sharing strengths in clean energy, including smart grids and artificial intelligence (AI) innovation—two sectors that are vital to shaping Gippsland’s economic future and driving the national and global energy transition.

As the region transitions toward a renewable future, TAFE Gippsland is uniquely positioned to translate this high-level international cooperation into on-the-ground training opportunities.

The Institute is already leading the way in delivering skilled workers for major projects and the emerging offshore wind sector.

The partnership is expected to unlock significant opportunities for Australian students and workers.

By aligning Australian training standards with best practices from Canada and India, TAFE Gippsland can ensure its graduates are globally competitive.

The soon-to-be complete TAFE Gippsland Clean Energy Centre is at the forefront of this work, delivering world-class vocational training in:

● Solar and Battery to electrify homes.
● Hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) servicing and maintenance.
● Smart grid technology and sustainable energy systems.

This trilateral partnership reinforces Australia’s opportunity to lead the global shift towards renewables.

TAFE Gippsland remains committed to ensuring that the local workforce is equipped with the high-end skills required to support global decarbonisation efforts while simultaneously boosting the local economy and training the workforce for jobs in future-focused industries.

Quote from Veronica Quinless: Senior Strategic Advisor – Clean Energy

Veronica Quinless

"This partnership proves that the skills we are teaching right here in Gippsland have global significance. When world leaders from Australia, Canada, and India talk about clean energy they are talking about industries that our students are training for today.

“We are ensuring Gippsland workers aren't just participants in the energy transition, but leaders of it. TAFE Gippsland is proud to be the educational engine securing the supply chains that will power the next generation of renewable technology."
