TAFE Gippsland Clean Energy Centre Opening

TAFE Gippsland is Victoria’s centre of excellence for renewable energy training, demonstrating national leadership across Australia.

Our new Clean Energy Centre opened early 2026 and began delivering training in renewable technologies including solar, battery technologies, along with hybrid and electrical vehicle servicing and repairs.

In addition, TAFE Gippsland was announced the national leader in training for the renewable energy sector, through the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence.

Funded under the National Skills Agreement via both the state and federal governments, the $50 million Centre of Excellence includes the construction of a $15 million renewable energy digital training facility at our Morwell campus, which will include digitally-enabled classrooms and a research and innovation lab.

TAFE Gippsland is leading the initiative, working with Holmesglen Institute, South West TAFE and Federation TAFE to develop and deliver industry led, state-of-the-art training to support the integration of renewable energy generation and storage assets into the electricity system.

The Centre of Excellence will also provide digital training and virtual reality technology to simulate renewable energy working environments, such as offshore wind and transmission infrastructure, and provide access to training with large-scale renewable energy equipment.

This is an exciting time for us at TAFE Gippsland, our local industries and the TAFE sector as a whole, as we lead the way in training tomorrow’s clean energy workforce.
