Students may select their course from either VCE studies or Scored VCE VET subjects to attain an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) score.

Course Outline
The Victorian Certificate of Education is a Senior Secondary Certificate which is designed to be completed over a minimum of two years (full time) for students continuing their Secondary Education. VCE may also be undertaken by adult learners over a minimum of one year (full time). The VCE provides students with the required skills and knowledge to prepare them for entry into tertiary level studies.

To be awarded the VCE and receive a study score, students must successfully complete a minimum of:

  • Senior Secondary: 16 VCE units comprising of Units 1-4 (a minimum of 4 sequences of unit 3/4) or VCE VET studies (to a maximum of 4 studies), one sequence of which MUST be English.
  • Adult VCE: 8 VCE units (4 VCE subjects comprising units 3 & 4) or VCE VET studies (to a maximum of 2 studies), one of which MUST be English.
  • To gain an ATAR score students must successfully complete a minimum of 5 sequences of Unit 3/4 subjects , one sequence MUST be English.
